Amy Easton's idea for the perfect Thanksgiving doesn't include giving up the last can of cranberry sauce to a stranger, no matter how sexy he is. She will make this holiday special for Dad even if it kills her. And that means getting everything on the shopping list.
Mason Rider is home to help his mom through her first postdivorce holiday, but when he finds the seductive blonde who body-checked his grocery cart standing in Mom's kitchen, he doesn't know what to do. Sharing Thanksgiving with this woman and her father wasn't part of his damned plan.
Who would've thought that a simple can of cranberry sauce could lead to holiday disaster? Or to happily ever after?

Two people who have lived with a great deal of anger but one doesn't know that the other has a secret that will bring great pain to a parent and family. What started off as a bump at the supermarket with flirtation ends up in the healing of their hearts and facing the truth.
This book brought back a big deal of pain that I hadn't thought of in such a long time. How a husband could cheat on his wife and not ‘fess up. Not being truthful to the person they married and living a life of lies and deceit. Then one day, just blurting it out to his wife as if the information were nothing. I remember the day that my mother told me of my father's affair and its consequences. To this day, I have not been able to confront my father and let him know I know what he did to my mother. Have I forgiven my father for what he did? I think I have, but only to a certain point. I want for him to have the courage to tell us, his children, what he did and why. But enough with my sad story. Let's give you a little of what Mason and Amy have been through and how they confronted their demons.
Amy Easton is a spirited woman who brings life to a room when she is around. She does not hold her tongue except when it comes to Mason and his under the table playing. Yum. Amy lost her mother at the age of thirteen, and from that day forward, her life changed forever. She remembered that her mother felt and looked better so they started planning a party for Amy's birthday. They both enjoyed the laughter while planning. But her mother passed a couple of days before her birthday. That was the last time she ever celebrated a birthday or even a holiday. So if the man eyeing the last cranberry sauce thought he was going to grab it first, he had another think coming, because she needed it for her father's first Thanksgiving holiday in a long, long time.
Mason Rider is a man who doesn't do relationships. He believes that he is damaged because of what his father did to his mother. He loved his mother and wanted the best for her since his parents divorced. When Mason was an older teenager, he found his father with another woman in bed. According to his father, his mother knew about his affair. Who in their right mind would believe that it would be okay for their partner to cheat on them? If I were in Mason's place, I would have gone to my mother and asked for an explanation why would she put herself in that situation. Well, Mason believed his father and didn't find out the truth about his father's lie until he overheard him tell his mother he was cheating on her. That's when his regard for his father died.
Mason was going to his mother's home for Thanksgiving and didn't get her message on time about her needing cranberry sauce. So he goes to the supermarket, but just as he was reaching for the last can of cranberry sauce, it flew out of his hand and was about to hit the beautiful woman on the floor. The moment that he touched her to help her off the floor, he felt the energy between them. That's when the woman, Amy, grabbed what he wanted.
Amy and Mason knew that they had a connection, a connection full of lust but they knew they couldn't do anything about it. Nothing would come out of it. Will Mason and Amy come to realize that they care for each other and they should be together? Will Mason finally be able to tell his mother the truth about him knowing his father's adultery? When Amy finally pieced together the real reason why her parents wanted to give her a party years before, will she be able to forgive her father and also her mother?
SPICY WITH A SIDE OF CRANBERRY SAUCE is great read that will have you cheering on Mason and Amy, wanting for them to build a relationship that they both deserve. They both went through so much pain, and they will have your emotions all over the place. You will experience their lust, the want, the pull they have, the pain, sadness, the joy of being together as a family for the holidays.
I truly loved Amy. She was a breath of fresh air and Mason was like a snake ready to strike and have his fill of Amy. The story was a mixture of emotions and Ms. Nichole did an awesome job in the pace of the plot, the development of the two characters, the problems they both had, how it seems that they have so much in common, but especially in having the heart to forgive. I didn't want to put this book down; it had me so entangled that before I knew it, I was turning the last page and the last couple of sentences had me cracking up.
Ms. Nichole, thank you so much for allowing me to review this book, I enjoyed it tremendously. I know that this brought back some not so good memories and had me in tears but it was worth every word. Readers will enjoy Amy's snarky remarks when it comes to Mason.
