Valerie needs someone to take care of her. After all of her searching, she thinks she has found her protectors in Luke and Grant, but do they want her?
Luke and Grant are surprised when they stumble on a woman who is alone while walking around the Border Lands. A woman alone is not safe anymore and needs the protection of men in order to keep her safe. Valerie needs someone to protect her and she's been watching Luke and Grant for awhile. When they take her in, she falls in love with both men but Grant holds back. He keeps her at arm's length. When Valerie is almost taken, Grant and Luke realize how much they love her. They are prepared to do whatever they have to do to get her back. Luke and Grant need to join forces in order to keep their woman safe.
I love the Border Lands series. Each book has a different take on how a woman needs to survive. She mainly needs men she trusts to keep her safe but I adore the way the author describes the battles she has to go through. Valerie is a strong women and she looks for the right men to pick. Luke and Grant are wonderful characters and they are totally different. Luke is more willing to take Valerie in and have her as his woman than Grant. Grant is fighting his feelings for Valerie, which is more than understandable. The conflict inside these three characters is very real and the way it is handled is perfect. Grant doesn't overcome his issues instantly but it's a gradual process.
What I particularly loved about this book was the fact that I didn't have a favourite man. In ménage romances, I find I'm intrigued by one man more than the other. In this book that simple wasn't the case. Luke and Grant held my attention equally. Valerie was a lovely woman and was a perfect match for the two men
In this world that has been filled with loss, it is lovely to read the love that has survived out of necessity.
Overall, I think this is a wonderful addition to the series and one I recommend you read.
