Is romance in the workplace a go or no go? No matter how you feel, it's rife with complications.

Holly Shepherd's secret fantasies starred her sexy and sinful co-worker Travis Kane but she'd repeatedly refused his many advances for fear of being just another conquest. But after accepting a twelve-month assignment at her company's London office, she decides to go for it. Why not, when Travis would remain behind in New York City and she'd be based in London? They could have a quick affair in the few days she had left in New York and then she'd just take off across the pond with her heart still intact. There was definitely no need for her to worry about one of those public and messy office break-ups that you often heard about when co-workers dated one another. She'd simply have to be careful with her heart because deep down she knew Travis could easily break it, if she gave him that kind of power over her.

Travis Kane knew Holly was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with from the moment he met her, but perhaps the stories he'd spread about his sexual prowess had given her a less than favorable impression of him. He'd hoped the rumors would pique her interest, but instead they'd made her keep her distance. Six months of abstinence and numerous rejections from the woman he desired only made him more desperate when he learned Holly was leaving for London. He just needed her to give him a chance to win her love and he only had twelve days to accomplish his goal. So, he boldly approached her on the dance floor at a company party and vowed to her she'd be his in every conceivable way before the night was over. And, so began their nights of smoldering seduction…

Australian author K. R. Haynes may be new to the writing scene, but she certainly knows how to create hot, passionate bedroom encounters that require a cold drink or a cold shower to help you get through them!

Travis is a man who likes being in control and Holly trusts him enough to let him bring out her untapped wild side, but this couple has vulnerabilities that make each of them relatable and appealing. Holly's fear of heartbreak and commitment and Travis' fear of not being able to break down Holly's defenses are fierce motivations that drive this plot and kept me turning the pages.

Nevertheless, there were a few things out of place in this story, such as passages containing Australian slang like "fair dinkum" that would never be used by an American unless they were trying to imitate an Aussie. I was also distracted by Travis' continuous use of the endearment darlin' and the fact that much of his dialogue read like the easy drawl of a cowboy. Cowboy drawl is fine for Dallas but seemed out of place for the New York City setting of this story.

This was by no means a perfect story, but it was certainly a great sophomore effort for a new author and a quick and enjoyable way to pass an evening or two.
