The author takes you on a warm, wonderful and emotional journey of friends from their childhood to adulthood. You ride the emotions along with Zev and Jonah as they become more than friends.

Zev is an Alpha, who has known the man who would be his mate for years. They had met in grade school. And Jonah is a human, who knows nothing of the wolves.

You feel Zev's pain as his family continues to disregard his sexual orientation and parade female wolves in front of him. Their refusal to believe him when he keeps telling them he's gay, that he's met his true mate. Zev is fighting and trying to change the whole structure of his pack, bringing them from the archaic rules of their lives into the modern world. But his true mate is male and not claimable for awhile and he has to hide who his mate is. You feel his frustration with his inability to tell Jonah what he is, and not wanting to take away Jonah's dream.

Jonah's in pain and frustrated as well when Zev keeps him at arms' length, never lets him meet his family, when Zev always tells him he can't leave his job or his family. He's hurt when Zev never consummates their relationship, Jonah can't understand why. What Jonah doesn't know is that once they do consummate, their bond would make it impossible for them to separate for more than a day. Jonah wants to go to medical school, so he'll be gone for years. Zev works in the family business and as Alpha can't go with Jonah when he leaves.

Then there is the mystery of why Zev is drawn to Jonah in the first place. Jonah starts having dreams that are about his mom and wolves. When Jonah starts to feel he's losing his mind due to the separation from Zev, which he doesn't know about and shouldn't be having since he's not wolf, he starts asking questions of his Dad. And his dad starts to track other relatives, which causes several problems for Jonah, his dad and a couple of others. The truth is a surprise to everyone when it comes out.

Well written, smooth and easy to read, this story just flowed. It was an excellent and different take on werewolves and their mating habits. This story was one that I couldn't put down, that left me feeling glad that I had gone on the journey with Zev and Jonah.
