It was only supposed to last one night…
Roxanne Stokes doesn't believe in love. She does, however, believe in the sexy-as-sin stranger who literally knocks her off her feet in front of a nightclub. The chemistry sparking between them takes her breath away, and she'll do anything to ease the pain in his eyes…until she realizes the handsome stranger is her best friend's older brother who's just come home from war.
Ian Walser had no idea the gorgeous woman he slept with the night of his homecoming party was his little sister's best friend—or that she'd be gone before morning. Roxanne's touch soothes him in a way nothing else can, and he's not ready to walk away from that yet. Not when spending time with her gave Ian a glimpse of everything he's ever wanted.
When his sister unwittingly pushes them together, he sees his chance. But convincing a woman who doesn't believe in love that she's his Mrs. Right might be harder than any mission Ian's undertaken. Good thing this soldier likes a challenge…

Delightfully steamy, deeply emotional and a marvelous read all around, Katee Roberts has added a terrific book to her Come Undone series and given readers an unlikely couple that burn up every scene with their combustible attraction.
Ian Walser is barely holding it together after his return from active duty. When he sprints out of his own welcome home party, desperate for some space and quiet, he runs, quite literally, into a lone beauty—and finds that her touch instantly begins to quiet the voices in his overtaxed mind. Unwilling to let such a remarkable woman go, and nearly overwhelmed by his attraction to her, Ian soon finds himself in a hotel room, enjoying the most mind-blowing night he can remember.
In the morning, however, reality begins to intrude. Not only is the woman gone, but it isn't long before Ian realizes that she is his baby sister's best friend, Roxanne.
Roxanne was raised by a mother who could never make the right decision when it came to love. As a result, she has some very strict rules about the men she sees—and Ian makes her want to break every single one. Roxanne is terrified of the need she feels for Ian, but this soldier isn't about to take no for answer, and is ready to do whatever he needs to do to make Roxanne change her mind.
Ian's first meeting with Roxanne was outstanding, so emotional and raw that it just becomes an unforgettable moment of the book. These two characters come from such different worlds, are far more profound than their jobs (though a soldier and a party planner aren't exactly equitable), but at their cores, they are remarkably similar. This is very much a story of two broken people finding completeness with each other, emotionally as well as physically. Ian's war experience left him with wounds that are far more than skin deep, and trying to adjust to normal life and the constant presence of his family, especially his overly controlling mother, is destroying what little rationality he has left. Roxanne's upbringing left much to be desired, and has firmly colored the way she looks at the world in general, and relationships specifically.
Despite their flaws, however, these are two compelling, honest and wonderfully sympathetic characters. Their chemistry from their first, memorable meeting is sensational, and I loved how irresistibly they were drawn to each other, in spite of all the obstacles that might have got in their way. It's impossible not to root for them to overcome their fears and insecurities and find a future together. The reactions of Ian's family, including his sister—Roxanne's best friend—add an extra layer of tension to the story, and kept me reading at a fever pitch.
For readers who loved Katee Robert's first book, featuring Ian's sister Elle and the man of her dreams, it was great to catch up with them, and see more of the world of this story. The touching emotions and searing sensuality were compelling and delicious, and I can't wait to see what terrific couple Katee Roberts brings us next!
