Brazilian millionaire, Leonardo da Silva, is still seething from when his African-American wife, Alexa, walked out on him four months ago. Now she's in his office asking for a business loan to help her brother. Instead of a loan, he's willing to give her the money, but only if she resumes her role as his wife for the next two months. She reluctantly agrees, and she soon finds herself wishing their arrangement was permanent. But when she finds out about Leonardo's betrayal, there may be no way for them to mend their broken marriage.

THE ARRANGEMENT was remarkably written by Delaney Diamond.

Alexa woke up in a failed marriage. However, he did not want to give up. She didn't know how to tell her husband that she felt neglected by him, and Leonardo thought that expensive gifts would make up for lost attention. Too many times, she woke up alone in their bed, and one day she left him. A few months later, Alexa found herself sitting in his office, negotiating the terms for Leonardo to help her brother. However, his conditions were very simple -- he wanted his wife back in his life, in every possible way, for two months. And if Alexa wanted to leave him again, she could, but only after the two months' arrangement expires. The question is -- will she want to leave him again?

Delaney Diamond's characterization is great, as she instantly reveals the emotions of the characters, the ways in which they think and behave. The author also draws attention to the necessary ingredient in every good marriage -- communication. Very quickly, we realize that the main characters do not show each other what they feel and what they think. Actually, Leonardo and Alexa definitely act completely opposite of what they feel. In some moments, I was very frustrated because it seemed that it is much easier to say the things that needed to be said than endure pain and regret later. But this also shows how well written the book is because it was very easy to lose yourself in the story.

Through the entire book, you can really feel the passion that drives Leonardo and Alexa. However, that same passion is what stands in the way to discuss issues that they have. Every dispute between them ignites the spark that ignites their passion.

Ms Diamond has also made an excellent parallel -- who is Leonardo, really? -- by showing us his thoughts and how Alexa experiences him. Though he is presented as a cold businessman, without emotions, he is actually a very sincere person who loves his wife. When you add to that his passion, you have no choice but to love him.

Alexa on the other hand is presented as a woman who struggles with the love and passion that she feels toward her husband and the loneliness that she doesn't want to feel again.

The book deals with a serious subject, which is a major problem in marriages -- the lack of communication. While reading the book, I realized the mistakes that the main characters had made, and I wanted to shake them up. The book shows how easy it is to give up and how difficult it is to correct the mistakes.

The marriage between Leonardo and Alexa had too many lies and deceptions. Some things really are, at least in my view, unforgivable. I believe that the writer wanted, in this way, to emphasize, that there is no mistake that is unforgivable when people truly love each other.
If you decide to read this book, you will certainly enjoy it. Leonardo and Alexa will take you to the drive of passion, love and forgiveness.
