Once Candy opens Pandora's Box, there's no going back for the once clueless divorcee who wants to experience all sex has to offer. And she does so in THE BEGINNING, the first book in the Dirty White Candy series.

Candy Kavana always thought of sex as a lovely addition to a relationship, not as a necessity. But after her cheating ex-husband leaves her for a younger model, she finds herself desperately needing something more than her self-induced orgasms. She wants to be wild, raunchy, slutty. She wants down and dirty sex. Problem is, Candy has no idea how to do any of that.

Candy's best friend Stacy gets real with her: Candy is a boring prude. While Candy balks at the word prude, she does admit that she's uneducated and nervous about sex. But she's willing to learn! Candy starts seeing an unconventional sex therapist that opens her mind to every possibility out there, from sex with women, men and couples to mutual masturbation, everything is on the table during her weekly session. Will Candy jump in with both feet or will her nerves get the best of her as she maneuvers the single life?

THE BEGINNING is book 1 in the Dirty White Candy series by the fabulously named Anita Cox. At first, I thought of this story as basically a series of erotica featuring Candy and her exploits. As I got more into the story, I felt a kinship with Candy and a "you go girl" attitude to her taking charge of her sexuality and not feeling ashamed for testing out every water she can. While I did have to suspend reality a bit to believe that a pretty 30-something divorcee is so completely clueless and naive about sex, the situations Candy finds herself in makes for some very fun stories.

Ms. Cox doesn't waste time dealing with Candy's divorce or the reasons behind her repression. She jumps right in there with a hot as hell lesbian encounter that set the fun and erotic tone for the entire book. Told in the first person, it was fascinating to get "down and dirty" with Candy and experience what she was going through firsthand. I appreciated that she took matters into her own hand (pun totally intended) and decided to get schooled in the erotic arts. I believe if most sex therapists were like hers, the divorce rate may be much lower!

I can't decide who, if anyone, I would like Candy to end up with! The sex partners are all fairly secondary to Candy's journey of discovery, but I'm kind of rooting for one above the rest. Between shy and insecure yet delicious therapy partner David and her sexy neighbor John, not to mention her beautiful assistant Olivia or the polyamorous swinger couple James and Jeanette (or Janette--Ms. Cox should check her name for spelling consistency), Candy had some delectable options to choose from in THE BEGINNING. I can't wait to read the next book in the Dirty White Candy series, Ultimate Vacation.
