Although she doesn't start the story with the traditional "once upon a time," author C.J. English has incorporated all of the typical elements in her memoir titled AFFAIRYTALE.

Each chapter is introduced with a quote from a well-known book and provides a basic guide for what is about to happen. I have to give the author credit for the scenario set up in the beginning where she is on a plane by herself.

Ultimately, this is a story about a man and a woman who were destined to be together, but their path was not an easy one. As the story unfolds, the author details her relationship with Liam while fighting an attraction to Grant.

Writing a memoir can be challenging because there's a fine line between too much detail and not enough. With this particular story, I found myself getting sidetracked by some of the twists. The most obvious twist came in the form of C.J.'s back injury. The end result of being sidetracked is a jumbled timeline. One more trip through the editing process would help tremendously.

I kept waiting to see how the author was going to tie the prologue in the rest of the story. When it finally became evident, I realized my imagination was much more sinister than needed for the story.
