Book 7 of The Tracers
Romantic Suspense/Mystery

The seventh thrilling novel in the Tracers series from an author who "excels at detailing the mystery and the chase" (Publishers Weekly) features a forensic photographer and an FBI agent who form an uneasy partnership to find a vicious criminal.

With the click of her camera, Maddie Callahan inadvertently added herself to the hit list of a criminal mastermind the FBI's been investigating for months. Agent Brian Beckman is determined to protect the sexy photographer, but she may be his only lead.

As a forensic photographer, Maddie is used to seeing violence up close, but she's never before been a target. When a freelance photo shoot goes awry, she realizes she may have seen, and perhaps photographed, the kidnapping of a key witness in a federal probe. And although her camera was stolen, Maddie has something that could be even more valuable to investigators. With the help of her colleagues at the Tracers crime lab, Maddie uncovers DNA evidence that provides a desperately needed break in the case.

Although Brian is reluctant to involve Maddie, she's determined to help with the investigation and the two set out to track a vicious criminal known as The Doctor, whose far-reaching violence has led to multiple deaths. But as the task force gets closer to catching the deadly Doctor, Maddie is in more danger than ever...

EXPOSED explodes with action almost from the start, as Maddie is mugged and she fights for her life. Laura Griffin escalates the tension with each page, each scene, and interspersed the action with spine-tingling romance in a perfect blend.

Maddie has just taken wedding portraits when her camera is snatched and she finds herself fighting a masked man. The FBI thinks she may have witnessed something that's connected to some missing and/or murdered girls, and a vicious criminal known as The Doctor...

Laura Griffin gets better with each book. I thought she couldn't top Scorched, but she proved me wrong in EXPOSED. Again, this book showcased her trademark of balanced action and romance, but this time, she created a wonderful, amazing hero in Brian Beckman. And no, not because his surname is Beckman. There's something about Brian that captured my imagination, and I continued thinking about him long after I'd finished reading the book. (Isn't that what all authors strive to achieve?)

What about Brian? He's an FBI agent, alpha as they come, but with Maddie, he doesn't push her. Sure, he shows his interest, but he waits for her to overcome her issues and go to him. And boy, does she have issues! I love the scenes when he was out of his mind with anxiety when Maddie disappeared, and how he'd trade places with fellow agents so he could protect her at nights (nope, he wasn't getting lucky). I really envy Maddie having such a man who's so careful of her safety.

And of course, she doesn't make things easy for him. She chafes at the restraints, but for all that, Maddie is a likeable heroine. I understand her issues, and why she'd have them. However, I do admit to being impatient with her when she used the gossip that would ensue as an obstacle to their being together. It may have been an issue in the past (with her ex), but the circumstances with Brian are different that I think she's merely using the gossip as an excuse. Also, I think, at her age (34), she should've matured to the point that she should stop caring about what others think of her.

I don't normally read romantic suspense, but I make it a point to read Laura Griffin's stories because of the forensics technology involved, how it was able to help solve crimes faster and more accurately.

The ending was perfect, a beautiful period to the budding romance between Maddie and Brian.

Series fans are sure to gobble up this latest addition to The Tracers series. If you haven't read a Laura Griffin before, it's okay to start here. You won't regret it. Highly recommended!
