SUMMARY
Opal Carew has been hailed as a goddess of sensuality who brings every woman's most decadent fantasies to life. In this scorching new novel, she dares to push the limits farther than ever--and the results will singe your senses...

When Marie meets Zeke, a tattooed, motorcycle-riding bad boy with a body built for sin, she's swept up in a torrid affair that rocks her world. He's so different from the dependable Mr.-Nice-guy-types she's always dated in the past, and after a few nights in his arms, she vows never to go back.

Little does she know that her best friend Ty, the quintessential Mr. Nice guy, is gearing up to make his move and finally admit his true feelings for her. When Ty learns that Marie thinks he's "too nice" for her, he sets out to prove that he can be the overpowering dominant she wants and overwhelm her senses in ways Zeke never could.

What Marie never expected to discover is that Zeke and Ty share a secret history together, one that changes everything she thought she knew about both men. A past that went far beyond the bounds of friendship--and now they're about to take Marie beyond the bounds of pleasure--and into a world of soul-shattering ecstasy.

Pleasure Bound is an intensely sensual journey for three people who are exploring their personal boundaries to arrive at a pleasure that will bind them together forever. This book was so erotic and emotional that it was impossible for me to put down. I feel like I've been on a roller-coaster with twists and turns, highs and lows, and when I got to the end, I wanted to immediately get back in line to get on again!

This is the story of Ty, Marie and Zeke. Ty is in love with his best friend, Marie, and has been for a while, but he's been waiting for just the right time to reveal his feelings. Now is that time. Marie has just broken up with her umpteenth "Mr. Nice Guy" type--the kind of guy that she always goes for, but gets upset because the relationship doesn't go anywhere. So, she wants to get away after the break-up. Ty plans to reveal all when she gets back.

In the meantime, Marie falls in instant lust with the guy in the neighboring beach house while she's away and thinks he's perfect. Zeke is bad-boy personified. He's got tattoos, piercings, rides a Harley, and is oh-so-dominant. She brings him back home with her, much to Ty's dismay. He feels like he's too late. But when he finds out who the new guy is, it's even worse.

Ty and Zeke have a past, and their friendship didn't end pleasantly. But when Zeke offers Ty a chance to be a third with him and Marie, he jumps at the chance. And the story takes off from there with sexual exploration, deepening emotion, and development of a bond that could either hold them all together or tear them apart.

This book was sexy with a capital SEX. Sex in every place imaginable, in every way imaginable, and what was amazing about it was the fact that it was interwoven with emotion and love amongst the characters as well as real vulnerability. The three of them each open up some part of themselves that leaves them exposed, and it's unsettling for them. But as much as it gives them unease, it also gives them intense pleasure. There is a lot of BDSM aspects in the book, but it's mild overall without any intense scenes. But the steam that went along with it made me reach for water more than once.

If I had to choose, I would say that I loved Zeke's character the best. He has this tough exterior but underneath it all, he wants what's best for those that he loves. There are things revealed about him that make the kind of sacrifice that he's willing to make for them even more heartfelt.

The story doesn't go much beyond the relationship between the three main characters, but the author does a wonderful job illustrating some of the problems that can occur when dealing with any new relationship, even a threesome. The story was so engrossing that I didn't realize that there really weren't any other characters in the book besides the three main ones until I reached the end of the book.

The development of the relationship between Ty and Zeke was amazing. The way the author provided both men's points of view really helped shape the story and added extra depth to the characters. From childhood friends to something more is not easy. With the bad blood between them, Marie becomes the glue that binds them back together--and in ways neither of them ever imagined or expected.

Underneath all the sex and Domination/submission, bondage and everything else, this was truly about the joining of three people. And to me, that's what captivated me most about the book. Marie said it best in the book when she said: "And even though it's clear that any of the two of us would make a great couple, we'd always know that we were missing so much by denying the third". I really think that explains it all.

BOOK INTERVIEW on February 2011
Hi, Opal, thanks for this chance to get an in-depth look at PLEASURE BOUND.

Q: What was your inspiration behind writing PLEASURE BOUND?

My inspiration for writing PLEASURE BOUND was the idea of a man (Ty) who gives up his "bad boy" ways, then falls for the girl next door (Marie), who turns out to want exactly the type of guy he used to be. Everything went from there. Of course, I needed another man to be the bad boy Marie falls for, to make Ty rethink what he really is, and that's when I came up with Zeke, the motorcycle riding, tattooed, pierced, sexy badass, who has a heart of gold.

Q: You are known for your deeply erotic work, and this book is no exception. But you also have such intense emotion and vulnerability tied into the story. How do you find the balance for the emotional and sexual aspects of your stories?

Thank you! Usually I start with a story idea that hints at the growth the characters must go through in order to find happiness.

In PLEASURE BOUND, from the most basic idea, it was clear to me that Ty is denying who he is inside. Not just the bad boy persona, but the deeper issues of what he wants from life and who and how he loves.

Falling for his neighbour Marie, at first seems straightforward, and almost safe, to him. She is his idea of the kind of woman a bad boy would not fall in love with: a sweet, home-loving, girl-next-door type. When he finds out what she wants in a man is exactly what he has given up being, however, it puts him in conflict with wanting to leave his bad boy tendencies in the past and his desire to win Marie.

To push Ty even more (and ramp up the emotion and excitement), I decided to make Marie's other love interest Zeke, who used to be Ty's best friend. This forces Ty to come to terms with the demons from his past. Why did he end his friendship with Zeke? Ty has the reason he tells himself (and Zeke), but he knows there is a deeper issue he's not willing to face, and in facing that issue, he must reevaluate everything he believes about love.

The two men had a very strong friendship in the past and Zeke has always wished he could mend the rift between them. With both of them falling in love with the same woman, the emotions are intensified for Zeke, too.

As for the sexual aspect, with two sexy bad boy heroes who are both naturally dominating (even though Ty is fighting it), are hot for the heroine, and willing to share… well, that part's just easy!

Q: What would you say is the hardest thing about writing a menage romance, and why?

The hardest thing for me is coming up with a believable reason an average woman would become sexually involved with two men at the same time.

Q: Out of the three of them, who was the easiest to write? Why?

I guess I'd have to say Marie, because we're both female. I can easily relate to her perspective on things.

Zeke, on the other hand, was the most fun, because he is a much laid back type of guy who likes being a little outrageous sometimes. For instance, I loved writing the scene where Marie has returned home a day early from vacation and, in the morning, she goes into the kitchen to find Ty feeding the cat. When she returns to the bedroom, Zeke teases her by casually suggesting she invite the neighbour into bed with them, thinking it's a woman. When he finds out it's actually a man, he still suggests she invite him in. Marie finds his suggestion amusing and outrageous, but also a real turn-on.

Q: Who among the three main characters would you say you most identify with and why?

I would say I identify with both Zeke and Ty. Not because of the bad boy past or the dominating personalities, but because I question everything and do not just accept socially established beliefs (Zeke) and yet I need to find a balance to fit in so that I can relate to the people around me (Ty).

Q: What is your favourite line or scene in the story? (You may quote a scene)

My favourite quote is one that my editor liked so much she included it on the back jacket:

"Ty was such a nice guy. But after being with Zeke, she realized what she really wanted was hot, hard, and dominating. A real bad-boy type. Someone who could teach her what a bad girl she could be.

Maybe even punish her for it."

As for my favourite scene, that would probably be between the motorcycle scene and any of the hot dungeon scenes at the end, but they're probably a little too explicit (and lengthy) to include here. Instead, I thought I'd share the scene I mentioned earlier, where Marie enjoys Zeke's teasing, outrageous nature.

"I was wondering where you'd gone."

At Zeke's sleep-raspy voice, Marie gazed at him. His whisker-roughened face and tousled dark hair made her want to climb right back into his arms. His lazy green eyes perused her body, singeing her nerve endings. Her nipples pushed forward and her insides ached with need.

"I heard someone in the kitchen," she said.

Suddenly alert, he pushed himself up in bed, ready to bound into action.

"Don't stress. It was just my neighbor coming in to feed my cat."

He relaxed, then smiled. "Ahhh, the little furball."

"Her name's Jade."

"Noted." He patted the mattress beside him. "Now, how about you come back to bed."

She smiled impishly. "Oh, I don't know. I thought I'd get dressed and go out shopping."

"Oh, really?" He tossed the covers aside to display his muscular naked body, an impressive erection towering over his tight abs. "That's too bad. I have this little problem I was hoping you could help with."

Her gaze locked on his enormous, oh-so-hard cock. She wanted to touch it. To taste it. To glide down on it until it filled her so full she thought she'd burst.

Slowly, she strolled toward the bed. "What kind of problem?"

He grabbed her wrist and playfully tugged her toward him. She fell across his solid chest and his arm curled around her, holding her tight to his body. He kissed her, his firm lips mastering hers. Then he rolled her over. She lay with her back propped on the pillows as he prowled over her and captured her between his knees. She stroked the brightly colored, sexy dragon tattoo covering the left side of his chest.

"My cock wants to be somewhere soft and warm." He took her hand and kissed the palm. "Like in your hands."

He kissed her lips again. "Or your mouth. Or . . ."

His eyes twinkled and her heart stammered. His fingers stroked down her stomach, glided between her legs, then straight into her slick opening.

". . . in your hot little pussy."

Her insides melted. He stroked a few times and intense need blazed through her. She wanted him to thrust into her right now.

He wrapped his hands around her hips and tugged her downward until she was flat on her back, then he impaled her with one stroke. She groaned at the exquisite sensation of his big cock driving into her.

Instead of pulling back and beginning a series of thrusts, he stayed put, deep inside her, and grinned.

"About this neighbor of yours . . . maybe we should invite her to join us." He kissed the soft skin under her chin, then nuzzled her neck. "I'd love to watch you go down on another sweet little pussy."

She quivered at the thought. He could be so wicked.

"My neighbor's a guy."

He raised an eyebrow. "Really? Even better. Let's get him in here. It would be sexy to watch him fuck you."

Her cheeks burned. "You're awful." She could almost believe he'd do it.

He pulled back and glided into her again.

"You wouldn't like that? Your handsome neighbor holding you? He is handsome, right?"

An image flashed through her mind. Of Ty's warm brown eyes. His straight sandy brown hair, which was a little long on top so it sometimes fell in spikes over his forehead. His square jaw and full, sexy lips that she always had to fight the urge to kiss.

She nodded, without thinking.

"His cock gliding into you. And me watching from the chair in the corner."

She shook her head. "You're a crazy man."

Q: Whew! That's hot! I noticed that in the book there was no mention of exactly where the story takes place. What locale do you envision as being the site of the book?

I live in Canada, in the Ottawa area (in the province of Ontario). This book has aspects of my local area. Going to the cottage in the summer is a common thing for people in Ontario. The book opens with Marie at her friend's cottage, and that's where she meets Zeke. The apartment building where Ty and Marie live could be in any moderate-sized city, but I see it as in Ottawa. In the latter part of the book, when they go on the train ride, I definitely had in mind the train that goes from Ottawa to Wakefield (in Quebec), which is a scenic excursion on a steam train. In fact, the red bakery with the yellow trim that the characters visit in the book is actually a well-known establishment owned by my sister-in-law, and the restaurant overlooking the water is a real place owned by her family.

Q: I have to know, how did you come up with that motorcycle scene? I mean, I am getting sweaty just thinking about it. I wanted to run out and buy a Harley, posthaste!

Well, the idea of the motorcycle is just super sexy, and I had written a motorcycle sex scene as part of a fantasy (during a hypnosis session) in BLUSH, so I wanted to do one where my characters actually have a scene with a motorcycle. Then I had to find the perfect bike, as far as shape and seats, etc. The one I decided on was the Fat Bob (hate the name, love the lines). Take a look:

If you're interested, I have another motorcycle scene two books later (in the one after TOTAL ABANDON. I don't have a title for that one yet, but it's scheduled to be out in the fall.)

Q: Some of our readers may not know that you also write fantasy and futuristic romances. Is there one particular genre that you find easier to write? Why is that?

I used to find futuristic the easiest to write, I think because I read a lot of science fiction growing up and I have always been interested in technological advancement and the direction of the future. In fact, I have a Bachelor of Mathematics and for several years I worked in an R&D department of a software company where we researched future directions for the company.

Now, however, I find contemporary erotic romance the easiest for me. (The more you do something, the easier it becomes!)

Q: What is in the works for you in the coming months?

I have TOTAL ABANDON coming out in April, but my subsequent St. Martin's book has been delayed until the fall. (Sorry, my editor and I haven't determined the title yet.)

In addition to those books, though, I have some of my older titles being re-released by Sinful Moments Press. The first is Spell Bound (fantasy) tentatively in February. This will be followed by Masquerade of Love (a contemporary Cinderella story) around June, then Magical Dawn (fantasy) around October.

Also, Samhain Publishing is going to be publishing my series of futuristic novellas called Celestial Soul-mates. The first was previously published, but the subsequent four are brand new. The first, THE KING AND I will be released in April, followed by the second, THE COMMANDER'S WOMAN, in August.

Thanks, Opal! It's good to know we have so many of your books to look forward to!
